Paul Jenkins has a strong background as an innovative businessman and academic, but behind the scenes has been quietly growing grapes for premium Victorian winemakers for over twenty years. He started his first vineyard in 1985 at Yankee Creek, not far from Bendigo, the property where he now lives today.
Having travelled widely for both leisure and business, Paul developed a sound understanding of the global wine scene and the potential for the fertile red soils of the Bendigo region. In 1999, he planted his second vineyard at Turner’s Crossing, and since 2001 many highly regarded wineries have used the fruit to craft exceptional wines including Seppelt, Blackjack, Hanging Rock, and Carlei Estate.
With the assistance of inspirational business partner and winemaker Sergio Carlei, Paul has developed his knowledge of biodynamic and organic principles, adopting these into his viticultural practices to keep the vineyard naturally maintained and free of synthetic chemicals. He uses these techniques in partnership with the latest in soil moisture and weather monitoring technology, to ensure the vineyard and its precious fruit remain healthy and in balance at all times.
When not in the vineyard or on the road promoting his wine, you will find Paul in a restaurant, on the golf course, or spending time with wife Janet and the kids.
