Turner's Crossing Vineyard

The name of this outstanding vineyard comes from local farmers crossing the Loddon River in the mid-to late 1800s on their
way to the nearest town. The 40-ha vineyard was planted in 1999 by former corporate executive and lecturer in the business
school at La Trobe University, Paul Jenkins. However, Jenkins' experience as a self-taught viticulturist dates back to 1985,
when he established his first vineyard at Prospect Hill, planting all the vines himself. The grapes from both vineyards have
gone to a who's who of winemakers in Central Victoria, but an increasing amount is being made under the Turner's Crossing
label, not surprising given the exceptional quality of the wines. Phil Bennett and winemaker Sergio Carlei have joined Paul
Jenkins as co-owners of the vineyard, with Sergio putting his money where his winemaking mouth is. Exports to the UK, the
US, Canada, Singapore and Taiwan.

Bendigo Shiraz Viognier 2006 Crimson-purple; a strikingly opulent wine, the 95% Shiraz/5% Viognier doing
all the talking, with a rippling cascade of black fruits and almost powdery but persistent ripe tannins; maturation
in older oak exactly the right call. Screwcap.
14.5% alc. Rating 95 Drink 2021 $26 Date Tasted Mar 08

The Cut Shiraz 2005 Powerful full-bodied wine, with an uncompromising thrust of black fruits, licorice and
some spice; the tannins and oak are present, but largely incidental; demands time. Diam.
Rating 94 Drink 2020 $75 Date Tasted Mar 08

Bendigo Cabernet Sauvignon 2005 Classy medium- to full-bodied cabernet, with a seamless marriage of
blackcurrant fruit and earthy nuances, the texture excellent and the palate long. Diam.
Rating 94 Drink 2018 $26 Date Tasted Mar 08
